About Me

There are few Sebbens in the world. My grandfather and his new bride came to America to work in the mines south of Pittsburgh as a specialty blaster. He raised four children. The oldest surviving son (my father) was a Presbyterian Pastor. He married a music teacher and church organist (my mother). I attended Northfield Mount Hermon School, Lafayette College, Princeton Seminary, and Fuller Theological Seminary. I am married and the father of two daughters: one in her first year at Syracuse University; the other in her Junior year at Sharon High School. I am a pastor, ordained in The Presbyterian Church (USA). My career has included pastorates in Philadelphia (PA), Lakewood (NJ), and Sharon (PA). While there are few of us, we have relations across North America, South America, and Europe. If you see this spelling of the name, you can count on some relationship!

PCUSA

PCUSA are the initials we use to refer to the main-line Christian denomination we know as the Presbyterian Church. The USA locates us in The United States of America -- since there are many countries with very active Presbyterian denominations. The name, "Presbyterian," comes from a Greek word that means "Elders." We Presbyterians are Christians who put strong reliance on decisions made by elected groups of laypeople called Elders. Learn more about us by visiting the PCUSA web site.

The P.E.E.R. Network

The Presbyterian Endowment Education and Resource Network is an organization which is relatively new. I've served as Secretary and President of the Board. The P.E.E.R. Network was formed to encourage the constructive use of endowments in the context of Christian stewardship to further the mission of the church. We are building a base of knowledge about the theology, management, and development of endowments. You can learn more about us by visiting The P.E.E.R. Network web site.

MERLINK

MERLINK is a concept, organization, and a project. It was founded by a group of creative computer users who are trying to bring together the best of what the WWW has to offer and what Mercer County (Western Pennsylvania) offers. We are a non- profit organization whose goal is to promote internet access and use in Mercer County -- we are linking people to each other, thus the name. You can visit MERLINK at our web site.
