Colver Power Project Awards

The Colver Power Project was presented with the 1997 Pennsylvania Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence on October 7, 1997.

The Project was the recipient of the Three Rivers Environmental Council 1997 Award in the category of Business Stewardship.

The Colver Power Project, a 102 megawatt independent power producer, was recognized in December, 1996 by Power Magazine with its "1996 Powerplant Award" and by Power Engineering and Power Engineering International as its "Project of the Year - 1996" for North America.

Power Magazine's Robert G. Schwieger, Vice President/Editorial Director, stated that the Colver Power Project award was for "...extending the coal-waste-fired CFB technology and assiduously applying lessons learned at other similar plants..."The project "...joins a prestigious group of facilities that have received our Powerplant Award over the past 25 years for their leadership in the application of fresh ideas, advanced technology and equipment designs, and creative business arrangements to optimize among energy efficiency, economics, and environmental impact."

Power Engineering International's Douglas J. Smith, Managing Editor, indicated that the North America Project of the Year - 1996 award was for a worldwide project "...which provides the most outstanding economic, social and environmental benefits to the power project owners and their customers..."

Environmental Protection Magazine named the Colver Project "Facility of the Year", in December 1998.  Also during 1998, the facility earned a "Waste Watcher" award from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection.

The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association Award for 1998 was presented to the Maple Coal Co., for the Partnership's safety performance on the mine site.

In April 2000 the Colver Power Facility was inducted into the Power Plant Hall of Fame , as a 1996 entry.
