| May 16, 2004 It was cloudy all morning but started raining right before the races started. We ran a couple motos but had to call off the race becasue of the rain. We had some changes done to the track so maybe the rain will help pack the new dirt. There will be a gate practice on Tuesday May 18th. Our next race will be Saturday May 29th. There will be NO race Saturday May 23rd because that is the first State Qualifier Race at South Park.
May 1, 2004 What a way to start out the new season. It was susposed to rain today but the sun was out all day. We had 102 racers and 27 motos. We are sorry for the small computer problem when the races started but everything will be fine for our next race. There will be NO race on Saturday May 8th. Our next race will be on Saturday May 15th. We are going to have a gate practice on Tuesday May 4th starting at 5:30pm. The cost will be $4.00 per rider. This would be a good time for the new racers to practice on the gate. We would like to wish all our riders that are going to the National in Egg Harbor New Jersey good luck next weekend. If you do go, send us an email when you get back and let us know how you did and we will put it on here. The South Park BMX web site has changed. Click HERE to see the new one. The site is still under construction but they have the schedule up now. Make sure to update your bookmarks. There is a new lower price for the R/C Car on the Want Ads page.
April 24, 2004 We had beautiful weather for Open House today. It was nice to see a lot of the racers show up to get ready for our first race of the year next Saturday. There were a lot of new faces on the track also and we got a good amount of new sign ups too. We would like to thank everyone who helped out today. There are 55 pictures posted from Open House today so check them out HERE. Our first race of the year will be Saturday May 1st. Registration and practice will be from 12:00 - 1:00pm with racing at 1:45pm.

We put together a committee and below you will find the names and phone numbers of the members. March 14, 2004 We had our pre-season meeting last night and talked about last year and what to look forward to this year. Last year was the best year the track every had. This year our biggest race will be our State Qualifier Race on June 12th and 13th. We will be making a couple changes to the track and also doing some things outside of the fence. As always, we will be posting our work days here and will need any help we can get. Our Open House will be on Saturday April 24th. This year we will go back to Saturday racing instead of Sunday in the Spring and the Fall. Our 2004 schedule is posted and you will notice that we don't race every week. We have to work our schedule around the State Qualifiers and some National and Regional races. The first race of the year is only a month and a half away. It's time to get that bike out, dust it off, get your new parts and get ready for another GREAT year at the track. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again. There is a new lower price on the GT Power Series complete bike on the Want Ads page.
March 8, 2004 One of our Cruiser riders, Josh Bowser and his family had a house fire last week and below is a letter we got from one of their friends. We are like one big family at Westmoreland BMX so if there is anything you can do, please let them know. Hello everyone. I am just writing quickly to ask a favor if you can help
or if you know anyone who can. VERY good BMX friends of ours, who live
in Apollo, lost their home and ALL of their belongings, including their
3 dogs, in a devasting house fire on Friday. I just spoke to them on the
phone, they are staying at her mom's house and asked what they need. I
managed to gather from friends and family 2 garbage bags of clothes for
Jenna and a variety of stuff for Jaime and Josh. But they still are in
alot of need of like underwear, socks, shoes, etc....
February 9, 2004 Can you believe the news has finally been updated? It has been a long cold winter with nothing to talk about but we are getting closer to another season so keep checking back. In a month or so we will have the schedule for the State Series and then our regular schedule posted.
November 10, 2003 The UCI BMX Supercross Race that was held at Woodward will be on Fox Sports Net on Wednesday November 12th at 9:30am and 4:00pm. It will also be on at 2:00am on the 13th of November. Set your vcr's for this one because you won't want to miss it. If you are looking for somewhere to race indoor this year and don't mind driving, there is a new track in Huron Ohio , near Cedar Point. It is a full size track with a pro section. The track is inside a golf dome. They race Saturdays at 3:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. You can go to their website HERE to get the full schedule and prices. Click on the BMX Dome link on the left side of their homepage. There are no pictures on the site, just the schedule.
October 25, 2003 The Rider Appreciation Race was our last race of the year. We had 18 motos with 62 racers. We also had a dads race with a full gate of 8 dads. Some of them had never been on the track before. There were a couple wrecks but nobody got hurt. Mr. Pushwa was the winner of the race. It would be nice to see some of the dads start racing next year. We even had a old school bike race today. Some of our older racers brought their bikes they used to race from the late 70's and early 80's. A few of the guys even squeezed into their old uniforms. They also brought some old parts, trophies and pictures for everyone to check out. You young guys that are racing now, save some of your stuff so you can have a race 25 years from now and enjoy the way it was when you first started racing BMX. We would like to thank ALL the volunteers for the time they spent helping out this year. I know we say this alot but WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU! Volunteers are what keep the track running and you don't get enough credit for it. A BIG thanks also goes out to our track director Tim Zell. He was a big reason the track had it's biggest season yet. He will be back as track director next year so expect big things to happen. After the race we had our picnic. Everyone sat around, had great food and talked about the year we had. The track gave out plaques to the sponsors and the riders got tshirts and hats. The volunteers got a invitation to a dinner to say thanks. Everyone said goodbye and the picnic broke up late afternoon. Let's all remember the year we had over the winter and look forward to racing and seeing all the new friends we made this year. The web site will be updated as much as we can over the winter. If you have any pictures or anything you think our racers would like to know about, send it to us and we will put it on here. Have a great off season and we will see everyone in the spring.
October 14, 2003 The Regional Championship and Nationals had a good turnout with over 100 motos on Saturday and almost 100 on Sunday. The weather was great on Saturday and most of Sunday. A little rain fell during the mains on Sunday and the track was very slippery. It looked like it was going to rain for a while so they decided to finish the mains in the rain. There were a lot of our local racers in the mains. Congratulations to everyone. We would again like to thank all the volunteers for helping out. These were the biggest races ever held at the track and the volunteers worked very hard. The RIDER’S APPRECIATION RACE and Picnic is rescheduled for Saturday October 25th. Registration 12:30-1:30. Race 2:00 and picnic to follow. In case of rain there will be no racing, but still come to picnic in the large pavilion #8 at 3:00. We provide paper products, utensils, drinks, and chicken. Please bring a covered dish capable of serving 10 or more to share. It’s a fun time and the riders will receive their end of the season gift as we show our appreciation to them. We are going to have a Old School race that will show off the bikes and uniforms from when BMX first started. If you have a old bike, clean the dust off it and bring it to the riders appreciation race.
