Volunteer Opportunities at DLMThe Depreciation Lands Museum is an exciting living history village staffed by dedicated volunteers. This museum, whose mission is to present the history of the Depreciation Lands and Hampton Township, is small enough to offer hands-on displays and programs, and, because of its independence, is flexible enough to incorporate new ideas from our volunteers. While we have chosen to present the early days of settlement in the Depreciation Lands (approximately 1783 - 1810) through our costumed living history demonstrations, we also incorporate displays ranging from pre-history through the early 1900's into our museum. We are open to the public every Sunday afternoon, May thru October, and offer special events throughout the year, including our popular June day camp for children. In addition, we offer special programs for school field trips, scout troops, and customized group events, birthday parties and sleep-overs. Volunteers are needed to help with any of the events mentioned above, as well as with general maintenance of the buildings, grounds and gardens. Volunteers are also needed to help create, maintain and refurbish displays in the buildings (anyone an artist?). If you are interested in volunteering as a Costumed Interpreter We will plan a training day at your convenience. We welcome adults, teens 14 years and older, and families with children of all ages, as Costumed Volunteers. We love making new historically minded friends. Come join us! If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, there are lots of ways to contact us! You can fill out the membership form , email the museum , send a Facebook message to "Depreciation Lands", or leave a phone message at 412-486-0563. We look forward to hearing from you! |
